Briz kids kayaking in preparation for coal action

Over the weekend, Brisbane activists from QEAN and Friends of the Earth took part in kayak and non-violent direct action training in preparation to take action against Queensland’s coal exports.

Coal is Queensland’s biggest contributor to climate change and yet the Queensland Government plans to double the industry’s capacity over the next 20 years, throwing billions of dollars at it along the way. These actions are completely irresponsible in the face of dangerous climate change.

Serious thought needs to be put into transitioning the Queensland economy away from coal rather than burying our heads and hoping carbon capture and storage will save the day.

QEAN members will take part in a peaceful protest at a Queensland port in the upcoming months to highlight the insanity of continued coal mining and exports.
