Students of Sustainability 09 – on like donkey kong!
Every year, amidst the cold days of the winter break, there descends for just one too-short week on a chosen university a roving band of awesome.
Hordes of enviro-geeks, barefoot engineers, conservation students, ferals and activists of all shapes and colours come together for a week-long program of education for action, at Students of Sustainability (or, for the short of breath, SoS). The theme of SoS09 is doing it for ourselves, and that’s what we’ll be focusing on – sharing skills and knowledge which empower us to make our lives the way we want them to be.
At SoS09 there’ll be speakers from around Australia and the world. There’ll be plenaries and workshops – skillshares in everything from bike maintenance and tree climbing to campaign strategy and collective-building. Discounted registration is available for people attending both SoS and Powershift (11-13 July, see aycc.org.au for details), and cheap transport will be running from SoS to Powershift.
So come down and join us in Melbourne for a week of inspiring knowledge sharing!
Where: Monash University, Clayton (Melbourne)
When: July 6-10
What: a week-long residential conference
